My Marie Costume

So, I have been working a few weeks now on my Marie Antoinette costume. I couldn't find any online less than $1000 that I liked, so I decided to be courageous and make my own. Here is the bodice so far! Lots more to do!
The fabric is brocade

Gunne Sax

I love 1970s-ish dresses. I think Gunne Sax needs to come back around, with a more toned down modern version. What do you think?

Look of the Week; Dali Love

My boyfriend's favorite artist is Salvador Dali, so I chose one of my favorite Dali pieces for my look of the week. Dali used a lot of symbolism in his art, an image of an Egg being one of his most common, which he used to symbolize hope and love. See if you can find his, and mine!

Lake Titicaca

Despite the funny name, I would LOVE to go to Lake Titicaca. It's in South America, between Bolivia and Peru and is the highest navigatable lake to the sky. How nice would it be to cruise along the lake so close to the clouds?

My weekend project

I was driving with my boyfriend, and on the side of the road, someone left behind a nightstand no longer wanted, it was missing a drawer, but that doesnt matter to me! Luckily Jason has a truck, so he grabbed it for me and threw it in the back. My room color is "Manhattan Mist" with black and white accents, so I decided to paint the table white with a Black silhouette of Marie Antoinette. I couldn't love it more!

Look of the Week; Van Gogh's Blossoms

I was lucky enough to see this Van Gogh painting while in Amsterdam. Pictures don't do it justice! Here is a summer outfit I put together, perfect for a walk in the Van Gogh museum! NEVER wear HEELS in a museum!

Dress, I dont know why?

I saw this dress while looking around some online vintage stores. Unfortunately the dress is Sold, but I was drawn to the style of it! The picture isn't the greatest quality, but you catch my drift! It makes me think of Paris in the summer.

Costume, help!

For the past two Halloween's, I have wanted my own Marie Antoinette costume. I have an obsession with Marie Antoinette, France, Versailles, Sofia Coppola's film, etc. I want a replica costume of something from the movie, but everything I have found is $1200+ and no way in heck can I afford that, unless I start a Halloween Costume Donation service, HAH! Do you guys have any ideas of how I can make one of these, or better yet, if you can make one? I can send you the fabrics, thread, bows, etc...and I will pay you! If anyone is interested, let me know! Here are some of my favorites!
